If you don't want to pay the price for a car here, get the bus. Then you can go from moaning about the price to how you're always late.

VW seems to be more expensive in UK
our Tiguan A$33k - UK£26,130.00 = $38228

your right there is no Australian car just American cars , built by Australians (?)

I've been saying that for years about VW in Australia - they are pretty good value.

Agree about yank cars!

Are you using today's exchange rate ? Not really a true representation.

Yes, it actually makes the UK price seem cheaper than it really is!

If you used, oh say 2.2 the UK price would be $57,500!

I've always found cars quite expensive in Oz. But what I really can't stand is the stamp duty and tax (2.5%?) that you have to pay the RTA just for putting the car into your own name. (that may be just a NSW thing, I'm not sure).

Talking of Toyota Landcrusiers, years ago ( circa 92,93 or something) there was an ad that implied that the Snowy Mountains Hyrdo scheme was 'built' on the back of the Toyota Landcrusier. They were taken to court by Land Rover (or threatened with such action) as it turned out that on the scheme there were many more Land Rovers than Land Cruisers.

I'm a hatchback guy anyway, so didn't bother me either way. Made me smile though. Man that seems like a long time ago

Of course and it works both ways. The price in the showroom doesn't go up and in either country with the fluctuating exchange rate.

Which ever way you look at it -xchange rate or just buying power of the pound (has a lot to do with it ) the price in OZ is no dearer.

Yes certainly for many cars it is definitely no dearer here. A much smaller choice because of the size of the market of course. Luxury cars seem to be much more here.
