Euro 2004 Live Commentary in Oz?
Having not got Foxtel does anyone know of any radio stations broadcasting live commentary of the England matches that can be received in Australia?? Not found anything on my $10 AM/FM radio & wondered if a shortwave radio could get anything ?? I know the web is an option but not on Broadband & would require @30 mtrs of cable to listen to iffy coverage in bed!!
Also any recommendations for pubs etc to watch England in the final on the Gold Coast!!!!!
Ever hopefull

They might be showing the match live in Melbourne (where I notice you are). Apparently there is a pub that is open 24 hrs a day with sports on. My hubby is trying to get me to get up at 4,30 am to watch it with him.
'
I think the pub is on Brunswick road - I can find out the name if you are interested. Also I heard that you can watch sport 24 hours a day somewhere in the casino.
WE have broadbandm but I'm pretty sure that you cant listen through the BBC website when you are not in the UK, but I might be wrong

Uhh?
Of course you can (if they are broadcasting these matches on their web site .. usually it's real player ). every year, for the past couple of years.. including some of the matches this year, when the 6 nations are on live , I listen to the audio live at the BBC from here in Brisbane , real player ,- five live sports it usually comes from - and I have dial up.
I don't understand why you think you can't listen to their live sports broadcasts ouside the UK.

Ceri,
think I can throw some light on the commentary. BBC Radio 5 live have the 'radio' broadcast rights to many sporting events - such as the English Premier League. They do not however have the rights to broadcast them over the internet due to some Uk legal technicality. I'll have to see if a similar experience occurs on the 2GB web site for NRL rugby league.

however, the foxtel quality in there is crap. for the croatia game they lost a good portion of the second half. at one point it was 2-1, then the next score we see is 3-2!!!
going to the casino instead on friday morning.... the pig stops serving alcohol at 5 and makes you drink up by 5.20!

Stayed over on Satruday night, at Conrads.
Was the Pig well attended? Was there a decent atmosphere?

I didnt say you couldnt listen to sports broadcasts. My comments were in relation to the European cup as was subject of the original post. As pointed out by RichS it is to do with broadcasting rights.
Cheers
