Let's hope the foreign commentators are better than the ones in the UK.
Why must every English commentator provide us with the age difference (in days) between Wayne Rooney and any other young player playing in a match not featuring England!!
I'm not being anti-English - I hope the team does well - but those commentators - I'm going to watch the games with mute turned on from now on.

You can definitely get live commentary via the BBC website (and a dialup connection will do the job just fine).

Yep.

helenmaine referred to a 'European Cup'. There's no such thing anymore. What was the European Cup is now the 'Champions League' and is a club competition.

The tournament on now is the European Championships - titled, 'Euro 2004'.

(Quick Prediction.... Portugal 1 - 2 England (Rooney, Gerrard) and Portugal will have a men sent off )

Good to see the Western Bulldogs jumper ScuntoBris! I saw Nathan Eagleton kick a couple of good goals in the shock win over the Saints in my weekly 2 hour dose of footy on Sky!

Not found anything on my $10 AM/FM radio & wondered if a shortwave radio could get anything ?? I know the web is an option but not on Broadband & would require @30 mtrs of cable to listen to iffy coverage in bed!!

Also any recommendations for pubs etc to watch England in the final on the Gold Coast!!!!!

Ever hopefull

Peter

The Sports Bar in the Crown casino Melbourne will be showing all the matches I'm sure.

They have a bit of a random opening policy though, if it doesn't get busy enough they just shut

Cheers,

Yeh, but typical Bulldogs lose the following week against the Crows.

Emailing his Mum tonight to try and blag those tickets for the Gabba.

A lifetime as a Bulldog supporter tells you not to expect 2 good wins in a row! We're over in Melbourne next week for all of July so I hope to get to the matches at Telstra Dome against the Dockers and the Demons (the Gabba match is in between on the 11th) and then the Magpies. Hope you get your tickets, the Lions are moving into ominously good form!

Sorry to talk about real footy folks! My place of work has been declared a 'Wayne Rooney free zone' by my (Scottish) colleagues We all agree, it's not the players, it's not the fans, it's the b****y commentators that get to you! Last night the Bulgarian scored with a penalty and before he has ripped his shirt off to celebrate - 'remember he was born just outside of Manchester'. Even Mrs OzT said 'I wonder how many days younger Wayne Rooney is'!

however, the foxtel quality in there is crap. for the croatia game they lost a good portion of the second half. at one point it was 2-1, then the next score we see is 3-2!!!

going to the casino instead on friday morning.... the pig stops serving alcohol at 5 and makes you drink up by 5.20!

Come on brisnick! Tell us, was it a good atmosphere, were there other Brits there etc?

Just another addition..

This site indicates the Charles Dickens tavern in Melbourne will be showing live coverage too.

I really wouldn't bother. we are playing crap. Yes a young lad is scoring goals but generally uninspiring footie. Commentators are rubbish just talk for the sake of it. Portugal will win unfortunately and our participation will end. I think I may be having a bad day

Chippy

I saw England v Turkey and the Rugby world cup final (England V Aus) last Oct/Nov in the pig and whistle and both times were excellant atmosphere. Get there early, and you will have to pay a door charge (A$25 I recall), but hey if you want to see the game, its the place to go in Brisbane.

I think you should just go sit in the corner and allow the rest of us the opportunity to actually believe we may have a chance at winning something!!!!!

Sorry everyone.

I will put positive hat on. The sun is beaming down, I am going to Gold Coast tomorrow and England will win Euro 04. Don't know if I can keep this up.

Actually the sun is shining down ( or will be in the morning) and tomoorow I AM going to the GOLD coast. You've got the first two right so there is no reason why the third won't be!
