Estate agents in Oz
Hi All quick question,
We are planning an exploritory visit in a couple of months to check out areas to move to and set up buisiness. We are pretty sure Brisbane is the place for us and was wondering what the state agent system was in Australia, is it like the Uk where your pretty much on your own, or like in the states were you employ a realtor, he does all the legwork finding you the right house, and gets paid a split of the commission from the vendors side.
If its like the states could someone recommend one in the Brisbane area as we would like to set up some viewings for when we arrive.
Regards
Mark

There are two main ways to buy:
1: Go around the Real Estate Agents, and try to find the house you want, and the seller pays the Agent in this case.
2: Use a "Buyers Agent", they look for the house based on what you tell them, and YOU pay their fee.
I know an Agent who also sells properties that are in the hands of competitor agents, but only when they agree to split the commission with him.

Thanks for the heads up.
