Electrical Derangement Insurance
Who has claimed on their Electrical Derangement Insurance?
Is it is common thing for electricals to go a "bit funny" when they have been subjected to the heat extremes in the container on the open seas?
How much extra does it cost?
Thanks

ELECTRONIC OR MECHANICAL DERANGEMENT (BREAKDOWN)
From time to time, an electronic or mechanically operated item will prove to be inoperable upon arriving at its destination. Unless there are clear signs of damage to the item or its shipping container, however, the standard policy will not cover this loss. This situation appears most frequently with computer equipment, stereo systems or other devices where intricate components or circuitry are affected by the constant motion of an international shipment. Purchasing this further coverage option extends your standard policy to include those items without visible damage, assuming they have been properly packed and are less than six years old. The packing crew must also check that the item(s) are functioning properly at the time of packing.

I got it....I just insured the MOST expensive of my electrical stuff....ie tellies, dvd and computer... you itemise these things and the insurance is a percentage of their value(if you had to buy new in Oz)
We claimed on it and got $3500 in total for computer and a mini stereo.
If you have expensive electrical then I would advise it
