Dont stress on the amps. Its just like anywhere in the world with 240 volts (235 these days for some odd reason). It will all work fine, with just a simple cheap adaptor to make it fit.

Hope this helps.

Got adaptors yesterday - arrived 2 weeks ago. $10.00 each. Problem solved
Everyone will tell you to bring some multi plug sockets from UK - good idea but don't go over the top like we did. Lots of cheap gadgets in K-Mart etc.
Lou.

What type of adaptors, and what are you using them for ?

Make sure they aren't a fire risk on permanent use.

Extension leads and adaptors have a limit on how many amps they can take, so be careful not to overload them, to reduce the risk of a fire.
Australia uses a 10 amp system, not 13 amp like in the UK. Not sure what effect that may have...

Hello, did you get your adaptors from K-Mart in Sydney ? How did you ask them (in K-Mart): "I want to buy electric adaptors" ?

Plugs are about $2-3 each from Bunnings,I changed all I could, some chargers you cant as they are moulded transformers, but hair-dryers,slo-cookers and most electrical are no problem.

[QUOTE=LouB;8039004]Got adaptors yesterday - arrived 2 weeks ago. $10.00 each. Problem solved

Why spend that much on adaptors when a replacement plug is a few dollars?

Poundland will do 2 adaptors for £1 for anyone in the UK but we found they are not 100% at staying in the Oz sockets, weight of adaptor plus UK plug would sometimes break the connection.

Replacing the UK plug where possible seems the best solution.

To get round moulded transformer plugs one could take a UK 4into1 extension lead and use those sockets for phone recharging and put an Oz plug on the end of the extension lead.
