I'm the most christmassy person I know! Come December 1st I put my santa hat on and get into the spirt of things. I'm really struggling this year because so many things I associate with Christmas are going to be missing... family get-togethers, freezing walks to the pub to meet old school friends on xmas eve, mum pulling her hair out over xmas dinner with enough food to feed 20 whereas there's only 4 of us, etc etc.
I just try to keep the mindset that this will be the christmas my kids grow up with so I need to stay upbeat and do all the same positive stuff to give them the same great experiences and associations. I don't want Christmas to be just another day in the school holidays for them - it should be a time they really look forward to, and not just for the presents! When they're grown with their own families I want to recreate as best I can the family atmosphere we had in the UK.

Totally Agree, for my kids who arrived at ages 3&4 and have now lived here for 5 years Christmas to them is hot days, stormy nights and going over to our uncles house on Christmas Day for a dip in the pool, for them the Christmas Tree going up is a huge deal and an Ozzie Christmas is all they are going to remember and they love it as it all they will ever know, how great for them they are going to the beach on Boxing Day on their boogie boards!
However I don't feel like its a Christmas I used to have and I do miss the UK Christmas that I remember as a kid, but I am making sure my kids love this time of year, and you will find me cooking mince pies in 30+ heat just because its Christmas Time and because thats what my mum always did.
(Just don't watch Love Actually when you are feeling a bit nostalgic, its a christmas uk homesick film if ever there was one).

This yr's Xmas movie, " Christmas" is quite funny, about dysfunctional families had a laugh at it
Its set in San Francisco so its not too snowy and white. Then this morning I went shopping, sooo depressing, hot and steamy outside, people in daggy old shorts and T's looking all hot and sweaty, still does not seem right. My partner grew up here, hates aussie Xmas too, loved the ones weve had overseas.
Had a laugh at the nowt special time of year factor
, did anyone see the Andrew Rieu concert on the news, they set up a Vienna castle, classical music, ballerinas, classical orchestra, fake snow, and all the aussies were turning up in thongs, singlets, shorts etc, I mean I know it was hot, but your paying $200 for tickets to Christmas event of the Season think they could have dressed up a bit
