Don't Know What To Put

Well Then,
Bugger me we get our visa plan the flights, book the accommodation and bam we are pregnant. Just turned our world upside down, we have put Australia on hold but we have started discussing going whilst we are pregnant (around 7 weeks).
Thing is we don’t have any jobs to go to and that is the big worry, are we daft to go Aus giving up good jobs to go there with nothing lined up?
We have a decent amount of savings and I will find work, but still I think we maybe better off here as we have jobs now.
Very happy but in a spin

Whoa! I can see how that would set your head whirring.
Firstly though: Congratulations!!
You say you have a decent amount of savings and you will get work. So, what else are you worried about?
So, you could go now. Or just take a trip now to validate your visa, then come back, carry on working here until the baby is born and then go. Or not go at all.
But at the end of your life you are more likely to regret the things you didn't do then the things you did do.
Whatever you decide: all the best

take advantage of the NHS while you can, have that early parenthood bit while you have your family around you as it's hard sometimes in aus. being pregnant isn't the best time to decide to do something major. i just remember being really sad the day my son was born in Sydney i didn't have any family to share it with... it makes me sad now... 17 years later......
we moved back here when the kids were 5 and 7 it was such a great adventure for us all and they have settled here really well.. they got to spend time with great grandparents and grandparents when they were small. they all come over and visit regularly and have good relationships. i am not sure that they would had they never been together. this is just my experience i hope you find this helpful......

Been dreaming of oz for 5 years, whilst the wife finished her qualifications. During that time we were not trying and not not trying for kids if you know what I mean. We have validated earlier this year so we have a number of years left, but the fear is if we re buy a house and get settled it will be even harder to go.
But as why says being at home with family and friends is something that we have discussed and is a major stumbling block. My sister is a nurse and works in pediactrics so her being around would be such a releif as it would be our first.
We have loads to discuss but we are leaning towards Aus, I think it's a battle of head and heart atm. Hopefully once it (head) stops spinning we will make a clearer decision.

We had a baby in a strange country with no support and no family and whilst it was hard, it was also a great bonding experience for the three of us. Life is not perfect, and you need to decide what your priorities are and whilst I would like to have been around family, we had "other issues" going on at the same time and being here was the right decision all round.
You just need to make a decision as there is no wrong or right in life - it is what you make of it. There will be pros and cons to both decisions - maybe make a list and "weight" the items on the list and see which choice wins....
Good Luck!

OK,
Well here we are again bit of an update. Well since I last posted about our situation it has doubled. Yep we are expecting twins
We have both accepted that we should stay here to have our children but we just can’t shake this feeling that maybe we would be better off going before they arrive.
Our long term goal is to still move to Australia so it is just a case of when we feel we are in a good position to go.
The dilemma is that we are about to buy a new house here, we have both since got new jobs (which we both don't like) and our families are so looking forward to the twins it’s unreal.
The problem is we are buying in a location where we previously lived as there are new houses being built and compared to the current market costs they look excellent value. But we are so not interested in living in the area again and we constantly talk about going to Aus, but we wonder whether we could manage, just us two and two new born babies.
Our heads are saying stay - we have jobs, a new home being built, friends and family nearby for support. But this bubble says maybe Australia would give our children a better environment to grow up in I know the current place we live in we would not be on our list.
Would it be easier to have them here then go after a year or go there before they are born. We are aware you get no maternity pay over there just the lump sum payment.
So do we stay or do we go, head vs heart scenario…..

Firstly, I would like to say Congratulations, on your pregnancy!
Personally, I would go out and validate your visa once you get past the 1st trimester (12 weeks)
Take a good look round. Let OH have a look for work opportunities.... See what happens.
If you definitely want to go to Oz and the moment I would not buy anything, I would rent somewhere and see what pans out.
I'm aware that the market moves all the time, but if you buy and sell within a couple of years will the cost of the purchase and sale could well end up costing more than any appreciation in property prices and eating up your hard earned cash... the other alternative is to buy somewhere in Oz and rent that out, you have PR so you can do that quite legitimately. Then your money is invested and your new home secured and the income from that should pay your rental on your UK residence.... or at least towards it. Depending on what you want to rent.
(am I confusing you more now!?

)We validated last year and we have until 2011 on our PR so we can delay going, we are just deciding whats best all round really trying not to make a hasty decision. We have our 20 week scan soon if that all goes well we are hoping to make a decision then. In all honesty the decision we are trying to make is the best one for them.
Cheers
Honcho
