Not necessarily Australian per se but what about"my friend" at the end of a statement.Thats a got a huge prickle factor about it and a precursor to a blue.

Not an Australian quirk you say, more Qld? The two people I've heard use the word a lot actually originate from SA.
Hmmm... .. .go figure!

The people I know who say it do happen to live in Qld, but they're also relatively recent immigrants from Victoria, so.....

and I don't hear anyone in SA say it (not the people I know anyway)

We did have one guys in the office a few months back that did it...he was over visiting from Victoria.

I remember Lizzie Birdsworth used to say it in Prisoner - and it was set in Melbourne! So in fact, it's definitely a Vic thing!

I find Australians often answer a question with "yeah no yeah ........" before explaining the double meaning of that. I like the 2 positives surrounding the negative.
