Hi Lee
I'm doing the Student route too. In July I'll be starting a Security Engineering course at the Melbourne Tafe
Just a couple of questions.. I know the Tafe's may differ, but how many hours/days a week are you there?. I've been told I'll be doing only 3 days a week.. so just wondering if you think thats about right?
Also, have you found it easy getting the part time work?..
Cheers

By doing the security engineering course are you hoping this will eventually lead to PR??

Hi, sorry to barge in your thread, we are pondering over doing the student visa route. We are trying to gain sponsorship for a 457 but not sure if we can. Did you find it quite easy to get on your course? I've heard that they get really booked well in advance?
Also, we have 2 kids and we'd have to pay their school fees, this is surely going to be a back breaker if only allowed to work 20 hrs a week???
Any advice gratefully recieved
Becky
p.s also, what are the main courses people are doing for PR??????

Yeah that's what I'm hoping for at the end of the course - all going well
I was looking everywhere for a course & especially one which includes Locksmithing & this became available to International students just recently. I noticed that you got 60 points for being a Locksmith but now it's on the MODL

I am doing horticulture at TAFE in Adelaide. We have to go in 3 days a week, but our days are only 9-4 (sometimes 3.30). Fees are about the same as yours.
We have both managed to find 20 hours of work a week (well me a bit less, and not in relevant work at the mo) and are managing to pay all of our bills, so that is always good, but there are only the two of us and the fluffy one to feed.
I am certainly glad we came.
