Default does partner need tra assessment??

hi there,
wondering if anyone can help us.
i am a specialist nurse and younger then derek so we are going to use me as the main applicant.

we are wondering if derek still has to apply for the tra assessment because he is a painter and decorator and plans to work as a decorator in oz. does he have to because he wants to work as a decorator.

he has been a decorator for 23 years starting at 16. he did go to uni to study politics degree for 3 years in the middle of this. we are having problems getting his references as some of the companies are no longer trading.
what are peoples opinion on using a agent for the first half just to get started, as you can see we get confused easily!!!!
loads of questions i know
any ideas??

I came into Aus as de facto - partner was the main applicant, so no your partner does not have to do TRA assessment. We used an agent as we found it easier for someone to do all the "nitty gritty" as we were very busy working etc. however, many have done it on their own - maybe some more opinions on this site will help you along.

Good luck

Yvette

Only if you need an extra 5 points, your partners skills can be assesed and you could qaulify for another 5 points, if you dont need the points then no your hubby does not need to do TRA, and yes he will be able to work in Aus.
