I phoned the Australian London office last week to see how long visa processing is taking as we had our medicals done 7 weeks ago and still waiting.The reply was that only one person is in the office to answer the phone open 1000 letters a day and then to work on visa processing.Oh the good news is that she is getting someone else in to help her next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So what hope is there to this impossible situation?

yes it has - the process is now done in Australia and is a lot quicker (especially those post July 2004 applicants).

we actually deliberately delayed our application so that we could send it to adelaide rather than it getting stuck in london

we joined this site at the time when so many had been waiting years for their visas. Now some of the 'newbies', unaware of the past, don't always realises how things have actually improved and waiting a matter of weeks is not really that much of a hardship.

Have to say tho how things have changed in 4 years?? Amazing, but I still do feel for the 1 person who had to deal with the 1000 letters a week! Wonder if shes retired due to repetitive strain injury? probably retired to oz!

Youve probably got your display options to only shows posts from the last coupla days. If you set it from the beginning you can go back to the last page. If you look at the URL part of it has page number. You manually change this and you can get to the end. I was at page 1480. Beware JAJ takes a dim view of you resurrecting old thread :scared:

You will al be pleased to know things have changed and London are now issueing visas within 4 - 6 weeks of all docs being in order and received, still waiting for mine though !!

Found it whilst bored and skimming through all the threads! Was just amazed to see how it used to be done (not that long ago really)! When you go right back to 2001 you can see just how mych the ex-pats site has changed. It was mainly immigration questions, then changed to become a little less formal! I wonder what all those people who posted questions are doing now?
