Though I was born in Mel. and have been yearning to return for years and years, hubby and I quite often get what I call the wobbles.
We get really scared and wonder if we should leave our beautiful home etc etc. It,s very scary leaving security but exciting and challenging to go to Aus. With a child to care for , it is even more worrisome. Dont get me wrong, we are still going for it but I would like to know what everyone else goes through emotionally etc so that I dont feel such an emotional wassack.
Go on everyone get all emotional on me .....
Cheers BooBoo

Guys come on and be strong !- This post is going to put a lot of people off.
Its incredibly hard for each and everyone of us for different reasons but predominantly because of leaving family and friends, and/or going to an unknown place with no house, friends or job.
WOW- thats a massive change and most people dont like change, I know. Hence the wobbles !
There are some really stange emotions flying around my house at the moment and they normally alternate from extreme highs to extreme lows within nanoseconds.
For me personally, I'm gonna miss my brother most - I regularly get extremely upset thinking about leaving him behind- but at the end of the day he is 39 and can look after himself - maybe when he comes to visit he will find a gorgeous ozzie chick and settle down. Now that would be brill !
We are all going to Oz or NZ for different reasons. We all know that it has been fantastic for some people that have tried it and absolutely crap for others. Life is what you make it.
This whole ride aint gonna be easy and will take lots of work. the fruits are there at the other end for those that try their hardest to make it happen.
This is my view but I know others may have different ideas - please share your too to give us a balanced perspective.
Ok, ok thats enuff from me.......nurses takes me away...........................
Will all the psychiatric nurses on this site help us unwell people out please

My wife was a wee bit wobbly but our trip to NZ made her realise it's a wonderful place to live for a few years or more. We don't see the plan as any longer than that, no need to set down what you'll be doing for the rest of your life in tablets of stone. We just see it as a 3 year plan, like a work contract, after that we'll see.

Selling some assets but not others (family house won't sell anyway so we're forced into holding for now). I reckon that spreading your assets around between countries/ currencies is best (most conservative), until you really are sure about the move.

Some days are better than others. it was good to meet up with others and talk over fears. At the moment we are keen once more and excited that the big envelope is nearly ready at LAST!! just waiting to get pasport piccies. However last week i was quite happy to jack it all in and buy a new car because sometimes i just can`t stand waiting in limbo our lives are on hold.
Oh well never mind at least i am not alone.
footie chick
At least for today well up for moving.

Thank you for this post - I thought I was the only one who was getting in a state about it and, although I am very excited now with just under three weeks to go, I find I am a bit manic to say the least!
Trouble I have is that, due to the speed and nature of our departure, I never had the chance to even visit Oz. (Although my hubbie is an Auzzie) People keep telling me I'm mad to go and live somewhere I've never been.........hmmm...........they could have a point!!!

I think you'll find that there are quite a few of us, myself included, who have never been either.
What the hell, lets just go for it!

Hi Peeps
Thanks for all your great replies... this thread isn,t meant to put anyone off, just to share our thoughts and feelings and I think it has worked out very well.
perhaps the scarier we find it then that means we take the subject of moving down under very seriously and will do all in our power to make it work. I know I will.
So peeps Forwards and Onwards and keep your goal in your sights
Cheers Everyone
