Do GC schools offer Spanish?
I have searched the websites of a few schools, and don't see Spanish as a 2nd language offered. French, Chinese etc......but not Spanish.
My 6 year old speaks 4 languages, but Spanish is the one that I would most like her to keep. It is a good "global" language. She speaks English at home here, but Spanish is really her other "first" language, so she is fluent.
We are moving to the Gold Coast in 2 weeks, and at 6, if she doesn't use the language....she will loose it....
Any thoughts?

Unlikely to find Spanish taught in schools here. You'd probably be better off finding private tuition for her. The main ones taught here are Japanese, French and German (no idea why).
Found this. First two look a bit general but there's a lady further down the list who seems to specialise in Spanish and not too expensive.

St Stephens does from year 7 onwards. St Stephens is in Oxenford but it's a fee paying school.
Good luck

One thing, if your child speaks spanish ( and any other language ) you might find even high school language tuition is going to be rather easy for her.
In primary japanese language was half an hour a week, mainly colouring in flags, doing origami etc.
High school, yr 8, 2 hours a week of japanese for first semester, then 2 hours a week of spanish second semester, a lot of this is still culture, food, customs.... the language part is very basic.
Friends from Hong Kong and Singapore who wished to keep their childrens second language up, took private lessons even once they reached senior high school.

Re: Do GC schools offer Spanish?
Some good advice here....and a great link to tutorfinder.
THANKS!
I suppose there is no substitute for simply "living" the language.....it is one of the prices that we are paying for moving......but there is a price for every good thing in life !!!!
Once there, I will check out the options, but I have a feeling that a private tutor may not be a long term solution to her maintaining her fluency.
You never know.....maybe there will be some little Spanish girl in her grade that needs a friend ! You never know.....stranger things have happened!

There are people from South America here although they are not a large community. Our large communities are Italian which is taught in schools, Greek, Mandarin, and Vietnamese. Indonesian is widely taught too. My children had a choice of Indonesian and German.
Emphasis will be on the asian languages as they are our trading partners.
