I'd go to the meeting with a big stick....If he has the money to return to you then still hit him with it for not keeping in touch.

but if other colleagues and mutual friends say he hasn't been keeping in touch it sounds like it isn't just you, so that is possibly good news. get there in person and ask rather than accuse, but that sounds more your style anyhow.

Your obviously someone who hates confrontation, I would feel exactly the same but you have no other choice. You are wasting your time sending a registered letter, he is not going to answer your just putting it off. I don't think you are going to be able to let it go so your only option is face to face. Seems like you've lost a friend anyway so you might as well give it a go. And don't warn him that your coming otherwise you might find he's gone on holiday or moved house!! Good luck!

a letter from a solicitor is in order i think- this person has made no effort to contact you and therefore i think its fair to assume that you are no longer 'friends' and that you should take, proof of the transaction should be able to prove fairly easily (I imagine) so get onto it NOW
