No, but many have a buy 10 and get your next one free. A bit like coffe or muffins.

Maybe Muffins isn't the right word to be used in this instance.

A greater percentage of the population in Perth is British born then in London, well it seems that way.:p

FORGET Dullsville, Perth is one of the world's top five places to live, according to a British survey ranking the liveability of 140 major cities.

Australian cities occupy five of the top 20 places in the Economist Intelligence Unit's 2009 Liveability survey, with Melbourne ranked third in the world, behind Vancouver in Canada and the Austrian city of Vienna.

The survey assessed 140 cities based on stability, health care, education, infrastructure and culture and environment, giving each one a rating out of 100.

Perth was equal fifth with Calgary in Canada, with Sydney sharing ninth place with Zurich in Switzerland, Adelaide in 11th place and Brisbane 16th on the list.

As well as Vancouver and Calgary, Canadian cities also featured strongly in the top 20, with Toronto (4th) and Montreal (17th).

The New Zealand cities of Auckland and Wellington finished 12th and 23rd respectively.

US centres were well down the list. Pittsburgh ranked highest, in 29th place.

The highest-ranked Asian city was Osaka in Japan (13th). The next highest was Hong Kong (equal 39th with Madrid, Spain) followed by Singapore (54th) and Seoul, South Korea (58th).

The worst city to live on earth is Harare, the strife-torn capital of Zimbabwe.

"The performance of Asian cities reflects the diverse levels of development throughout the region,'' EIU spokesman Jon Copestake said.

"Australian cities represent many of the best aspects of liveability, while instability in countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh means that cities in South Asia fare much worse.''

The Economist Intelligence Unit is a branch of The Economist Group, which publishes The Economist, a weekly news magazine, in London.

Yes read the same survey but still find it slightly odd with regards to how the survey pans out. To place Perth as the worlds fifth ranked city, based on the criteria stated,as here in Perth we have a declining health care service which finds itself not a little pushed attempting to service a relatively small population,a great need to develop and expand infrastructure, and on top of that expensive housing,be it to rent or purchase. On top of that can be found rather limited cultural pursuits available......Would have thought at least two dozen or more European cities would have rated higher.(Toulouse,Avignon,Bordeaux,Lyon,Aix-en-Provence,Lille,all in France,
,Antwerp,Leige,Brugge,inBelgium, Helsinki,Turku,Finland,Aarhus,Aalbourg,
Copenhagen,Denmark. Bergen,Oslo,Norway.Berne,Lucerne,Switzerland,as well as some German and Dutch cities.
Could it be not a little slanted towards Anglo speaking New World Canada and Australia ?

I can pick a lot of holes in those cities having lived in Europe. Europe can be a very difficult place to live and I think the vast majority of people would struggle to live their happily unless they were extremely committed and spoke the local languages at a proficient level.

I read that somewhere............

Even greater discounts can be found, what with the long over due pruning of the financial market.
But one should shop around prior to purchasing and forget not to enquire whether any free samples are available.

I am going only on the criteria mentioned in the report.I would suggest all countries are difficult if unable to speak the language, and that includes non or poor English speakers to Australia or Canada.
Sorry but that is a very Anglo view of the world. Countless people from other lands enter a lot of the cities mentioned and have to go about learning the host language. I have had to do it myself.
What was rated was Health Care,Education,Culture, most i think are of a far greater standard than available here in Perth,i would argue.

Very few threads outside Update or Immigration do stay in the direction the OPs hoped. Once you have created a thread, it's out of your hands. To say that you won't do such a thread again just because you've had a few replies you didn't like seems a little like spitting the dummy but it's you're prerogative. It would be a shame though. :D
