Haha, mine is well used, am a messy person but with clean floors!
Was probably going to get one there, but I do like my vax!
The shopping for new stuff will freak me out, I get everything off eBay!!

E-bay is a great place to look. When we moved from Melbourne to California we couldn't bring any electrical items ( as per DH's company's relocation policy). So we advertised everything from the kettle and toaster to TV and fridge freezer, and many of the items were bought by someone who had just relocated to Australia and needed all the things we were getting rid of

Well, you would take the full bag out before shipping now, wouldn't you?
We want none of your dirty UK dust on our pristine Australian soil
Quarantine might still fumigate it and charge you for the pleasure thereof. This all depends on how attached you are to it and whether you can live without your own particular one... Personally, I hardly have any kind of relationship with mine anyway. I'm not too sure what colour it is now that I think of it
And I reckon it is allergic to dust anyway.
We do have vacuum cleaners for sale in the shops here too you know
Though somebody will be along shortly to tell how outrageously expensive they are and how even the Hoover ones are not as good as in the UK...
Just you wait and see...

You usually start with a visa... You got that one sorted yet?

Well done for making the decision and welcome to the rollercoaster!
We moved in July and my advice is, if you're getting a container to ship stuff then bring everything!! We thought it would be fine/fun to shop for new towels, linen, kitchen stuff, furniture etc etc but after a few trips (especially when you can't find what you want) it gets really old and a real drag when you're dealing with a new job, new commute etc all at the same time. So bring everything, you can always replace it later if you are in a mind for nice new stuff.
Good luck! I had a spreadsheet of lists (I'm not even joking) but it was a godsend when everything kicked off in the last few weeks, helped us remember to cancel stuff and when.

When we first here in 1962 my mother was told she didn't have to bring her Hoover because we don't have dust here, seriously
Our Dyson finally died last week after 20 odd years, things just aren't made to last

We shipped our Dyson from the UK to Aus with the rest of our stuff with no problem - we just washed out the canister before packing. The shipment got through fine, no delays.

I meant quarantine not immigration
I was thinking that as a bagless there would be residual dust.
