2. From what's left, sort out what will come with you on the plane and what you can wait a few months to receive by sea.
3. Find somewhere to stay when you land (assuming this isn't already arranged)
4. Book flights
5. Arrive!

1. Sort out what has to come with you and what is better off going to the garage sale or eBay.

There is a thread with loads of links to advice, checklists etc
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=345774 although it might get overwhelming to look at a few of those lists

There may be issues, not with the power though, just with the getting reception bit.
I know there are LOADS of threads on that particular topic so best to do a search and see what comes up. The vacuum cleaner will work with no problem though

Oh for a minute I thought my OH was on here...
Have read up with the TV but think its worth a try, something to do with German settings?
Seriously, is the vacuum cleaner allowed in? Or might it be at risk of bugs?

We want none of your dirty UK dust on our pristine Australian soil
Quarantine might still fumigate it and charge you for the pleasure thereof. This all depends on how attached you are to it and whether you can live without your own particular one... Personally, I hardly have any kind of relationship with mine anyway. I'm not too sure what colour it is now that I think of it
And I reckon it is allergic to dust anyway.
We do have vacuum cleaners for sale in the shops here too you know
Though somebody will be along shortly to tell how outrageously expensive they are and how even the Hoover ones are not as good as in the UK...
Just you wait and see...
