Re: debt in uk
Big boys don't blame others when they sign up for things that rip them off.
As a matter of self-preservation, never go for anything that is unsolicited: it's always to the seller's advantage. If you want to buy something or sign up to something, do the research and approach the vendor, not the other way around. You may still get ripped off but the other way is asking for it! |
Re: debt in uk
Then why dont you divulge the information that you have to the proper authorities and bring it out in the open?
You simply cannot post on this forum that you KNOW that banks are using Highly Illegal procedures and on the other hand make a statement that its their money until its paid back when they may be gaining this money Illegally! i.e Ripping us off! Dont you agree?

Who would have thought it, the banks acting outside of the law!? I wasn't referring to you with the second point, stop taking things to heart! Its not a personal attack against you or all things Glesga! I was simply making a point and didnt want to post yet another post! Maybe i should have! |

Dont you agree? Its none of my business what they do or dont do my friend. I'm not the police, if someone wants to take on the might of the financial institutions they fill yer boots. I never made a single reference to their money making activities and if you think i implied it then sorry but my comment was about the information they hold, can acquire and will happily share. Everything we do is monitored and logged (ok not everything but for the sake of this discussion you get my meaning) I have already said that i do not judge what people do or dont do but the need to put people into camps has made me a pro bank campaigner for some reason. If people want to take money/ drive without insurance/ buck the system then good on ya, just dont blame anyone else if it all goes tits up. Culpability is the word of the thread! |
Re: debt in uk
Well I've paid off all my debt within the last year and it was quite large (£17K plus) ready to come to Australia. I wanted to come to Oz for a fresh start and didn't want having to pay bills from the UK as I think it might be hard enough just to get a job and start a new home without the added pressure of debts.
It's been hard and I've got a full time job and been working 3 other jobs ontop of that, so for the 1st few weeks in Oz it will be a well deserved holiday. A helping hand however was provided when I found all charges the banks use for late payments etc are illegal, therefore I requested it back. When they refused I took it to the small claims court and they offered me a out of court settlement for 100% of all charges plus 8% interest over the last 6 year (just over £1k). Chris |

Re: debt in uk
Wow, Chris, I didn't know that about the charges. Wish I had, would have made our debt much easier to cope with.
We paid of 25,000 uk pounds in debt and we no debt here, not even a credit card. It's deliciously freeing. :) well done. Hope you enjoy Australia. |

[QUOTE=tscw1]You can still get the money back from upto 6 year ago, this is a great website: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...tructions.html[/QUOTE
OMG! That's shocking! I'd need all the paperwork to do that though. They charged us hundreds of pounds. So dispiriting when you have debt and they're giving you more. I don't know if I want to pursue this now... It's revisiting old ground, but I will check it out. Thank you for the link. :) |

If you have to, then like any product there are is plenty of choice. Some good, some bad. Otherwise its like blaming Maccas for being fat, nobody forced cheeseburgers down thier neck.... |
Re: debt in uk
Have you watched daytime TV in the UK lately, there's an add about how you can get a loan for any purpose upto £250k, then the one after it is about how you can get a loan to consolidate all your other loans, then the next one is advising you to go bankrupt. This is every break!
There's many reasons people get in trouble with debt, but just to say it's greed is wrong, what about people going through divorces or deaths (partners)? or people who have been made redundant? or even people hit with Inheritance Tax. Are they all greedy too? It's easy to sit on a perch and preach about anyone who has problems with money has eyes to big for their wallet, but not all people are sinking in debt because of credit they have spent. |
