Not really; it DOES get cooler when the sun goes down, you know. And I'm perfectly happy to start my day at 4am, instead of 5, just as long as I can have my siesta.

Heh heh, I know that, but if it is going to get up to 40 degrees in a day, it will get up to 40 degrees! Just because it is now 3pm and it was 4pm won't change that. I see your point though, it will appear cooler relatively later in the day now.

I suppose it is something one just gets used to. When I was living in Perth a few years ago, that was the one thing I missed about Ireland, longer days in the summer. I was always amazed how quickly the sun set in Perth. I used to cycle to and from work, but was reluctant in the winter because it would be quite dark sometimes on the way back, but it might be a bit better now when I get back next year!

The problem with a lot of Perthites is that they are so used to doing the same boring thing for donkeys years and any suggestion of change/improvements like daylight saving, extended shopping hours are moaned about!

I read in the local rag, that if you arrived in WA AFTER 1991, you wont be able to vote anyway!!!! Any truth in this?

In Aus, if you are entitled to vote, you are obliged to vote or risk being fined, so I imagine the above is not true!

A woman wrote into The West Australian newspaper complaining that the locusts out in the wheatbelt (they have a locust problem out there at the moment) now have an extra hour to do their destruction!

That seems to be the standard mentality they can't get there head around the sun still shines for the same length of time you just get up hour earlier or later.

I was talking to a woman in IGA the other day and she was complaining that they now eat dinner at 8.30 pm- why?
Is it becuase they 'have' to eat their evening meal in the dark?
Can't understand the mentality!
I think it's great, kids are in the pool longer and able to go for walks etc after tea.

My kids are were waking up when the sun came up (5.00am) :eek: , regardless of what time they went to bed. Now they wake an hour later, so it can't be all bad. ;)

We have been here for almost 10 months and they have already forgotten that summer in the UK meant going to bed when it was still light, how quickly they forget! :rolleyes:
