Hi gang, haven't posted for ages, but I'm finally here and discussing the really important issues of moving down under....CURRY! My friend Gavin has a website back in the UK that some of you seem familiar with www.curryfrenzy.com. Where he shares curry receipes. Anyway I've been ordering spice mixtures from him which are fantastic, to make a mean curry here in Oz. I think we all agree there just isn't any really good curry houses in Oz. The problem is, although the mixes he sends are great and really convenient recently the aussie customs have said no! Apparently customs wouldn't let the last batch through because of the spice cloves?!
My question to you is, if we were to set up a similar website down under where people could purchase these mixes, would anyone be interested? So instead of spending ages making the curry from scratch so to speak the spices would be ready mixed.
Honest answers would be appreciated.

Hey
Personally, I would rather make them from scratch, after buying all the spices myself, but that's just me.

Even the ingredients to make your own are hard to find. More paste than fresh.
Maybe thats customs faults..idiots

I had a great curry the other night from a curry house in Strathpine called Indya.
My curries never turn out as well as I hope, so I am glad I have found a good curry house at last.
The site sounds like a good idea. Good luck with it.

They are VERY hard to find, but they are out there. I spent months trying to find a place for a good Curry. In the end I found a place on Victoria Street, Kings Cross/Potts Point. THey have the best curries I have tasted (in AUS).
The person who owns it prides himself on telling people he wife spends hours in the kitched cooking things from scratch. He is also amazzed that the english will ONLY order chicken.

I find that most will do one or two good dishes but it's hard to find the full meal.
For example I know one where the curry is good but the naan bread is rubbish, and I know another where the onion bargee is great but the curry is crap
I guess I could drive around and get part of the meal from each place
