Although my father has done his fmaily tree and I knew we wer from convict heritage!

From the BBC The journey to Australia by boat took eight months, six of which were spent at sea and two in ports where supplies were picked up.
Updated for 21st Century....
The visa for Australia will take 8 months if you're lucky. Six of which will be spent wondering where your medicals are up to.
When you eventually get the visa, the other two months will be spent in airports going through security checks.

But today, I have booked our flights for Manchester->Singapore 7/9/07 Singapore->Sydney 10/9/07
Wife has handed her notice in today.
Got 'Processing Further' and 'Medicals Finalised' ---can't be long now
