Criminal checks 4 the kids??

Criminal checks 4 the kids??
Tell me thats not right?
Went into my local police station today to get the forms for a criminal history check, I was told that I would need 4, .....Wife, 17 year old and 11 year old?
Now I can understand mine and the wife, and almost the 17 year old ....... but 11??
There was a time you HAD to have a criminal record to go at all!!!!!
Call me cynical but is it just yet another way of generating a little more income?

we had ours done in september. we have 2 kids 14 and 11 and we did not have to do them for them.
went into the local station who gave us the main number and i explained what we wanted and they just sent the forms. completed them and sent them back with £10 each and got them back within a month.
very stress free.

You do need to get the police check done for the 17 year old, but not for the 11 year old.

From the info we had, its 16 yrs and over only....

The threshold is assessed at date of decision not date of application.
