"is becoming"?

A few dead taxi drivers should of been a wake up call for action. Not so much a case of more bigots around or "more" racial motivated crime - I think applying that label is a farce.

Targeting has shifted away from grannies with walkers because there becoming tougher.

Scum don't deserve labels or excuses

You have understood the criticality of the situation. Hope the Aussie govt also understands it before it becomes too late.. BTW one of the dead taxi driver was Spinner Harbhajan's first kin. I read that he's alleged murdered by competitor aussie cabbies. But its very distressing to see that many people fail to recognize that serious crime has shrouded Melb in the past 6 months , instead they defend the situation.

A few years ago a white Australain and his two kids were locked in a car a set alight and burnt to death in India , theres also been lots of rapes and murders of Aussie tourists in india, White AUssies don't go protesting in the streets burning the Indian flag and slandering Indian people in the world media as being violent racist people.

I remember that perfectly and I would agree, despite all the recent attacks on indians, I think they always seem more than ready to start protesting etc. You know what, I think its these protest and continous mourning that headlines everywhere in the media and who knows may even be causing escalation in the violence!!

I hope the Aussie Press and the Indian Press can put the lid on this rabble rousing pretty fast.

I am starting to think that if there are many more violent protests and disruption of people in Australia we could see the mother of all backlashes hit Indians living here, that will make the Cronulla riots look like a day at the beach.

We have growing unemployment in Australia, and a lot of the jobs have disappeared to India and China, so these guys really need to keep a low profile.

Its odd that we are not seeing this trouble with Chinese students? More of our jobs have probably gone to China than to India. These thugs that we have seen bashing Indians on the train dont look like unemployed computer programmers. Does anyone have any theories on this?

Being a Taxi driver is a very dangerous job especially late at night, many get murdered, bashed and robbed it has nothing to do with racism. In melbourne most of the Taxi drivers are Indians these days so they are going to make up most of the victims, it has nothing to do with race. In adeladie where most of the Taxi drivers are White , white taxi drivers make up most of the vicitms. l saw a video on the news of an Indian being bashed in Melbourne and most of the attackers looked Vietnamese in appearance not Anglo, amybe the indian Protesters should make a complaint to the Vietnamese government.

Here you go:

1) You said you can Identify Indians from Srilankans (if I understood you correctly). You ONLY see an Unknown person on the TV and you can tell if he is Indian or Srilankan. This is what I call Rubbish. Nobody can. For your information, India is a huge country bordering Pakistan, Nepal, Burma, bhutan, Bangladesh and China. People from South India appear similar to Srilankans. People from East India appear similar to Chinese or Burmese etc. There are no visible differences.

Well if you can still distinguish, you are a genius.

2) You mentioned that since Indians outnumber Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, the guy you saw on CCTV was clearly an Indian (based on the probability). This is what you said:

"Ironically enough, one of the perpetrators of the train bashing was clearly an Indian."

what kind of reasoning is this??? Rubbish....

Why do we need to waste money on Facial recognition technology when we have people who can so easily identify someone's Nationality from a distorted CCTV image.... I sincerely hope you are not trying to provoke people here with your baseless statements ....

Yes. Very true. Unfortunately such things happened in the past (and they still) . As I said earlier, India is not a perfect country and there are huge flaws. But to be honest, reminding Indians of their dirty past is not gonna help anybody. You will only end up provoking people.

Why dont we stick to the current topic for a change???

Hey Kev,

Why do you think that Chinese and Indian immigrants should keep a low profile just 'cos jobs get outsourced to Asia? If there are less jobs in the economy every one gets affected regardless of their origin dont they?

A lot of the attacks on the Indians are happening at zone 2 stations, or on the trains along the way to those stations. Generally the Chinese live closer in and use trams. Sounds almost unbelievable that this could make such a big difference but it seems to.

The Chinese aren't quite as blingy as well, plus are more likely and able to protect themselves.

One other factor as well, the Chinese seem to travel with women in their groups. I wonder if the lack of obvious women in Indian groups is making some kind of subconscious difference in all of this... dont tell me the Idiots have some scuples when it comes to attacking people because Women are amongst the group. Seems it could be a factor.
