Drug trafficking offences for 2001:
UK 19,645
Oz 12,697
So, given that UK is 3x Oz population, to compare apples with apples, we would get roughly:
UK 20,000
Oz 38,000
Of course, the high Oz road accident and drug trafficking rates could be related - no hands free to steer - they're too busy rolling joints/sniffing coke...

I'm glad someone mentioned it...
factors such as police efficiency, number of unreported crimes..they should all come into the equations. Don't forget that in the UK the police force has so few elements available to deal with petty drug crimes that they started legalising it in some parts of London....
the comparison you reported is not worth the paper it is written on ...
if you live by statistics, let me tell you that 78.5673 % of them are wrong.
sorry to disappint you, but I do not consider myself your mate, so don't call me that.
good luck, wherever you are in the UK.

Statistics can be far less misleading than their unproven dismissal.

Sunnyspell just to change the subject a little here " mate" is used whether you are there mate or not. I had a little old lady say gday mate to me the other day. If you dont like being called mate, i wouldnt come here if i was you. They all use it.

having to explain jokes for Mike ...
when I said that 78.5673 % of stats is wrong ....
it's a stat isnt'it? it's a statement based on a statistical value to say that statistics are wrong...
someone must have left their sense of irony in OZ
