Crappy day - need some support
Having a real crappy day. One of my two cats is sick and doesn't eat anymore, just came back from the vet (who had no power and no roof, as we had a bad storm a week ago) who couldn't tell what's wrong, just gave him some antibiotics. Problem is we are very much in the outback and have no possibility to get the cat checked out properly. I'm worried sick at the moment, which triggers me also getting homesick (only been here three months).
Sorry about whinging here, but needed to get it off my chest, hope I can pick myself up soon.

Sorry to hear that you are having a bad time at the moment. Is it not possible that you could make the journey to Townsville to get the cat looked at?
Please feel free to pm me if you want a chat.

sorry to hear this!
my cat sometimes gets like this, as she gets fur balls caught in her throat. she doesn't eat until she coughs it up. although I would think that your vet would have noticed this. try not to worry too much, cats do like to self medicate; he could probably do with muching on some grass to dislodge anything that is lurking in his throat maybe.
hope he gets better soon
let us know how he is

Thanks for all your support. I feel, despite being isolated, I'm not alone.
Cat and I are not feeling much better today, although not worse either.
As it stands now, if he hasn't started to eat by tomorrow morning, I'll take him to Townsville to a vet clinic, as he is really starting to get wobbly, probably due not eating and the weight loss, and get him thoroughly checked there. Only wanted to go to Townsville end of next week for our Xmas break, but luckily I am not working at the moment and can go earlier (hubby needs to keep working until end of next week though )

Re: Crappy day - need some support
In know that there are pet forums like this Australian one. Have you thought about finding one of those and asking any advice on there?
Is you cat drinking ok? The most important thing is to make sure he has fluids. Perhaps you could even spoon feed him some water or something if he's not. He's more likely to become weak through dehydration than lack of food.
Sorry I can't be much help
Best of luck to you and your cat.
