Cost of things in UK

My mother in law still in UK owns the house which is just outside Upminster Essex.
She has been ill and is now in a nursing home in Hornchurch.
The weekly cost of the nursing home is 350 pounds
The house is rented out at 200 pounds a week because she didnt want to sell up.
She has to make up the difference which take all her pension and some plus.
My brother in law has arranged all of this. Can someone on here please tell me if these figures are reasonable over there? or is someone having a lend of her!
Thanks
Carol

i thought nursing home care was more than that..
the council takes into account any assets over 10 grand and deducts from there..
however not really sure of the question..
cheers

Those figures look completely believable, ie within the normal range, without knowing more about the house/ nursing home.

Thanks for that. Been away a long time and out of touch with the cost of things there.
So if these prices are ok then what would you say would be the average wage there in the Uk now? I know thats asking how long is a piece of string.
Just a couple of for instances.
Thanks Carol

Blimey, Carol, your questions are all easy to answer just by using the internet. I am a 60 year old retired pom and only learnt to use the internet and computer in the last couple of years and I can answer your question with no problems just by typing what you ask into the google search thing.
Try this one
Type in Google.com.au and then put whatever you want to know in the box and then trawl through what comes up.

A link for a job site in the UK... "fish 4 jobs" . Some of the jobs listed do not have the wage .. but some do.
I must be the only person working today. It's a holiday here ... no such luck for me though, boss is a slave driver!
Anyway try that link for UK jobs... some have the wage listed, others don't.
Cheers

P.S Wilf ... sometimes it's easier to ask a question on this forum rather than doing a search. Sometimes you need to wade through hundreds of irrelevant results just to find the info you are after.
Isn’t that what a forum is for… to ask questions. I don't see any problem with Carol's question... it's a genuine question (S) relating to being an expat... give her break! I thought that's what this forum is for unless I'm very much mistaken.

I will help you out,
The average earnings in the uk - £24376 per year.
The £200 per week rent sounds a good return but that depends obviously on area and house type/condition.
The home fees sound reasonable. you would pay at least double in a private home.
