Horses for courses really but I'm doing much better here.
My breakdown of it all is exactly the same as yours and I find Australia a far more profitable place to live right now.

Not sure how some people have ended up in such dire positions by moving from the UK to Australia.

UK $1.95 to $2.00 a rise since 2005 of 1%
AU $0.92 to $1.62 a rise since 2005 of 76%
Here in Sydney, last friday I filled up with 95 octane for $1.62 at woolies (the cheapest near me)

OK, price comparisons are normally based on standard unleaded on the basis that if you can afford a car which requires premium fuel the fuel price is irrelevant.

Even so, Motormouth has PULP95 at between $1.497 and $1.519 in Sydney today, and even PULP98 doesn't cost more than $1.559.

There was one done on BE and it was too loose to make any real sense.

No point in polling as people will do something silly like compare the price of Levi's or something irrelevant.

It's always more expensive on a Friday than a Monday. I paid $1.64 for Diesel last week. When the RACQ told everyone it was going to peak & they should fill up mine was already full lol. I fill on average 2/3 times a week so cost is irrelevant, I need it. The K's I travel mean I'm often filling up in out back little townships hence the premium cost.
I bought a brand new Navara on Christmas Eve, it's just had it's 20k service on Friday. I pay more for fuel than my mortgage per month.

And the point of telling me the price of petrol today is what exactly? The price varies wildly depending on the day, last friday it was $1.62 Do you want me to show you the receipt?

Oh and it's ok to get ripped off just because I have a car that needs the good stuff?

Meaningless. All that matters is how long you have to work to afford something - PPP.

A litre of diesel @ $1.50 here, GBPeso1.40 there (give or take a few cents/Peso pence). For me, based on my current income here and assuming what my income would probably be in the You Kay, it would take me:
50 seconds of work in Australia
160 seconds of work there
to afford it

This will be different for everybody

The only way to make a correct comparison.

Bizarrely it took me 6 years in the UK to save the required deposit to afford to buy the type of place I would want to live in.

In comparison it would take me 3 years in Australia

Most people here would kill for a bill that low.

The interesting point about the 1pc is that the Aussie dollar is strong and making it hard for arrivals bringing capital.

But to suggest fuel has gone up 1pc in comparison with the Aussie increase is meaningless and would get you laughed out of court. I see what you are trying to do, though.
