Default copies of medical records

Just been reading a post with lists of things to do before we go. I was wondering if a copy of medical records is something everyone requires or is it just for those with an ongoing condition?

Regards, Chris and Andrea

We brought copies back with us when we moved Oz to UK, will do the same on our return.

Not sure what the legal requirement is but for peace of mind and a good history for your next GP, it is invaluable.

Hello,

You don't need to bring your medical records and you probably wont be asked for them. As long as it is no hassle it is worth getting them for your own records.

Brought all ours across and not needed them in 15 months. Only cost 15.00 though. I suggest only bring out letters etc you may need relating to previous treatments etc.

Hi,
We just got our doctor to print out a brief copy of our medical history to date & what long term medicines we were taking,it didnt cost us anything & it was done for all 5 of us.
It has,nt been needed so far (the doctors here seem to take your word if you have a medical condition & supply you the medicine which i find strange! )

One thing i would make sure you have & thats a copy of your childrens immunisation records as they are most definately needed especially for children under the age of 7yrs.

Donna.

I think the kids immunisation records go for wherever you go. With pre existing conditions the doctors might want to do thei own test anyway. No harm in bringing whatever documentation you have though.
