Re: Cont.Aged Parent Visa
This is an onshore application - typical processing times I have experienced of late through DIMA Melbourne are about 3 to 4 months.
Best regards.

Dear all
When you say onshore do you mean that the visa has to be applied for while in oz. My mother and father in-law are just filling in the forms for the contribution parent visa but they are in the uk at the moment and this is where they will apply from.

Can anyone advise please?
Our Daughter and Son in Law will be sponsoring us for our CPV.
She is at the moment having processed her PR and then by Feb 2007 she would have been in Australia for 2 years.
Would it still be OK to send our application in in Feb 07? She is also going to be our AOS and meets the salary requirement although she will have to produce tax notices for 2 years.
This seems confusing to me because she emigrated in Feb 2005 and worked with an Agency (via UK) who sponsored her on a long term visa for her employment as a nurse.
She worked with that agency in the Nursing Home she still works in and has worked in sice she arrived in Feb 05. But in July 05 the Nursing home took her on in their own right as an employee so am I right in saying that Centrelink will want 2 years tax/salary notices from that July and it does not include the agency work she had done since Feb 05 although she is literally with the same Nursing Home?
If she has to wait until July 07 before they will accept the two years of tax notices can we still put our application in - in Feb 07 knowing that by the time Centrelink will need the information it will be past July anyway.
Will there be anything on the CPV form that our Daughter has to fill in that will prevent us applying in Feb.
Plus is it worth front loading meds and police checks with the CPV and if so how long after the application would you consider us front loading.
Sorry for so many questions
Many thanks

Re: Cont.Aged Parent Visa
The original poster referred to a Contributory Aged Parent visa, not the Contributory Parent visa ...

Yes, applications for the 143 and 173 subclasses (which aren't the Aged Parent categories) are taking 12 to 15 months from start to finish presently.
Best regards.

Re: Cont.Aged Parent Visa
Caz,
I hesitate about giving categoric advice here, but would only say that if the Assurer can demonstrate the required level of assessable income (as per Australian Taxation Office issued Tax Assessment Notices for the last two income tax years) when asked to attend the interview with Centrelink he or she should be able to act.
If there is any confusion as to strategy, documentation, Assurer eligibility, etc I would recommend consideration be given to engaging a competent migration agent, because 12 months is a long time to wait only to find you can't meet one of the requirements and have to start the process again.
Best regards.
