Kids 9,8,3,2 getting excited now, not as excited as me tho!
Meds booked for half term, then just waiting for the magic visa, hospital sponsoring OH.
I'll stop rambling now, I understand the vino is more pricy in Oz so I'm getting my fill of the cheap pinot grigio now! Well its months til August you know,

We bought 6 bottles of cleanskins last week for $18. That's about £1.30 a bottle. Admittedly it isn't going to win any awards but it is quite drinkable. A bottle of Hardys / Rosemount etc that would cost you £4.50 (that's what I used to pay in Tesco) is about $8 so £3. There are lots of bottles at $20 and upwards in the bottle shops but we don't let the poms have the really good stuff.

I found it more expensive in Oz in the bars especially, wher did you get these wines I was paying way more in Gangemi's than in the UK.

Ah well, everything in bars is more expensive than the UK, not just wine. $7.50 is about average for a pint of standard full strength lager in Perth - so about £3.25.

Woolworths seem to have cornered the market in the dirt cheap cleanskins, though I did see some decent prices at the new Dan Murphy.

We just got here 2 days ago, currently renting a newish house in Pearsall, but think we will more nearer the city to a more established area as its a bit too quiet for our tastes here.

I can relate - looked at a city centre flat for myself in Perth - saw a nice two bedder and offered $400 a week for it to live on my own. Others were offering $500+ for it at the time (October last year). God knows how much it would go for now - $500 would be the minimum no doubt!

If you're looking to buy what we think is the nicest house in the Brighton Estate, Butler, Perth (5 minutes from the sea, 37km from Perth) please take a look at our ad at http://www.geoffbaldwin.com/content/...st_propstatus=

The house (based on this design - http://www.rossnorthhomes.com.au/ind...=92&Itemid=362) is 3 and a half years old, 4 x 2, unique frontage, all upgraded spec and very, very clean (it's like a display home) and it's got just about everything except a pool (space for lap-pool only). We're moving to Melbourne soon and the house is perfect for anyone migrating to Perth or moving interstate.

Until recently BWS were selling 6 bottles of clearskin Chardonnay for $12 - they might still be selling it. It's nothing special but it's not bad either.

Checkout the licensee next time you are at Dan Murphys - Woolworth. Their specials are good value compared to other stores.

I did notice that the Dan Murphy's on Waneroo Road and also the BWS in Ellenbrook was licenced to Woolworths.

I noticed when we first came over how many different chains of bottle shop there are compared to the UK. But having read the business section of the paper regularly I now realise that most of them are actually owned by Woolworths, Coles etc
