I have seen the film. Not sure what the pychologists make of a country where Chopper, Ned Kelly and Waltzing Matilda are part of the folklore.

Come to think of it I'm not sure what determines a films nationality, but a movie buff mate told it was funded by the NZ government, apparently they did not realise its content and were rather shocked when it was finished. Thats what i was told anyway. I am fairly certain it was filmed in NZ also.
Jackson's other early films (which are just as revolting) are "bad taste" and "meet the feebles"
Watch them at your peril, trust me.

Mr HugoB here,
"Chopper" was a bit bleak I thought. Not a happy film, I suppose if you like gritty realism genres such as "Nil by mouth" (not Aussie) and "Once Were Warriors" (kiwi) then this is of a similarly miserable vein.
There are some superb Aussie flicks out there but this didnt really make the top of the list. The Lighthorsemen, The Interview (Hugo Weaving), The Dish, were all good and deserve a viewing, as does Rabbit proof Fence.
But tbh I sold my copy of Chopper after one viewing. Not a keeper.
Mr HugoB (wannabe Jonathan Ross with less hair)
PS Whale Rider is a great feelgood, coming of age, Kiwi film, a much happier film than Once Were Warriors.
