Good luck to everyone who's going through the process at the moment, but if people whinge about every step of the process that everyone has to go through, is it really constructive ?

I've got to have a skills assessment, I've got to apply for a visa, I've got to sell my house, I've got to sell my hatchback. Maybe if you cant face up to these issues, you shouldn't apply ? Or spare the forums and call Clare Rayner (sp).

Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but I'd rather save my sympathy for people who've got exceptional issues to deal with.

thats fine by me though why you thought it necesary to actually go to the trouble to spell it out is beyond me as the other zillion members just didnt bother to respond.

each to their own. see ya.

Well Bodger I for one need all the support I can get with this whole process.

Yes we made the decision to emigrate, but it aint easy your whole life is in limbo whilst we wait wait and wait.

We are doing all this for a better life, but are constantly reminded through friends and family of the life we will be leaving behind. That is very hard to deal with I will be at the other end of the world and cant come back at a drop of a hat if mum or anyone else is ill.

It is also hard to talk to family and friends about what we are going through because a) they dont understand and people on here do! and b) it upsets them.

We have done the skills assessment it was a very stressful process, and luckily we passed. we are having our meds this week god forbid anything bad shows up there.

So in light of all this Rooksie good luck to you and your family with the whole process, and that goes for all of you.

Rant over :)

Hang in there Jaq :D

I agree with the others, not everyone has a straightforward skills assessment (been there, got the t-shirt) and it is a real killer when you get that "failed" letter and feel like that's the end of the road.

I dont honestly know how I'd have got through this process without the help of this and similar sites. For a start I would not be in the hands of the excellent agent we know have nor would I have had any idea about timelines and how long we could expect to wait at each step of the way. I honestly thing we'd have just taken that fail and forgotten about our dream, but luckily there were plenty of people on here encouraging us not to give up.

Not to mention just the overall support that I've received (and hopefully given!) from other members, visa-related and personal.

I agree we do need morale support from our cyber buddies on here.
Our skills assessment was straight forward as Rich is anurse.
But it doesn't say that it isn't stressful... the whole process, the selling the house, the talking to the kids about it and hoping they will be okay and waiting to hand your notice in at work cos life is shit there too...

I have worries in the way that my mum has recently been told that she is going blind.... It worries me that I will be moving away and she won't have me there to help her through it.... but she has said that its okay and she would never forgive herself if we stayed here for her.

I feel for you PP and all on here that have rough times and wish that we could all have happy endings to all this torment.

GOOD LUCK ROOKSIE with the TRA.... hope it passes for you

Keep chins up and you never kno, all our dreams may come true after all....

I know how you feel Ang, Malc's mum is going blind (his Nan is already practically blind) and first thing his Dad said to us when we broke the news was "you know your mum's eyesight is getting worse".

I think it is a help having forums and speaking to people who are going through the same process, as someone else pointed out friends and family just dont understand the ups and downs and length of time plus the emotions you go through.

Lets hope Bodger has a really straightforward application and never needs any support

Stay strong Rooksie, and good luck :)
Things could be worse you know - you could be running a hotel with vermin in the bar & a bath not big enough to drown a mouse, not to mention two dead pigeons in the water-tank (there, now tell me you're not grinning!!)
