Default Check International warranty + DVD multi-region

If you are bringing out any new electrical stuff still covered by a warranty then check the warranty is International and not just EU. If EU, ring the company and ask them to send you an International one.

My home-cinema (bought Jan) recently stopped working. JVC Aus said I would have to pay for the repair unless I could get an International warranty. JVC UK were more than happy to oblige, other companies may not.

For DVD players make sure they are multi-region. Check for hack here http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

if not, pay these guys http://www.dvdcodes.net/index.htm.

Also, remember your PC needs hacking if you want to watch non region 2 dvds on your PC. http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=239 and http://tdb.rpc1.org/

You can always copy your DVDs to make them multi-region using this http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html

The PC player you can fix with DVD Idle. It costs a bit bit it is worth it.
On the PC the drive has 5 zone changes. On first use it sets the zone with the insertion and autoplay of the DVD. On number 5 thats it for good!
But DVD idle stops the autoplay and intercepts the low level commands and tosses them. ( I think). I did this as I used a laptop with speakers and TV adapter as entertainment until the container arrived.
Home player. I multizoned mine SANSUI by just doing a Google search for multizone or zone free. dvdshrink is OK but you have to discard some of the info or most movies wont fit. I found just getting rid of the sound tracks (non english) enough sometimes.
