Mmmm real cider. I used to live in Somerset and they had some great stuff down there. Magners is probably illegal in Somerset.

I drank it with some locals who were complaining at the cost of it as it had gone up in recent months. It had gone up to about 5GBP for 5 ltrs That was in about 2000.

Drinking Carlton Draught in longnecks right now. 3 for $16. Scrapped the paper bag because it clashed with my shirt. Cant drink VB or West End draught.

Beer is too damn expensive in aus

Don't get too excited. It's not that cheap most of the time. Those are not everyday prices, but rather when some special event is on. Can't think of one right now.

BUT it usually costs about £18 - £20 for a case of 24 x 440ml Fosters for example. Carling a bit cheaper at say £16 - £18 for the same.

The 3 x 12 can specials for £20 are quite rare.

Then you can go to Aldi or Lidl and sample their cheap beer.

Hobgoblin is usually a good price all year round.

Good idea. We have a Lidl now but I never think to go there. Might grab some nice German beer today on the way home.

Karma sent.

Let's see what the locals say.

Spurred on by the talk of being a wine snob for spending $15 on a 2 litre box, Mrs Freebo has just returned from the grocery shop with a 4L one which cost $8.99. I await the result with interest, but I'm not hopeful!

Good luck with that . OH and I identified a 2 litre happy box of Yalumba Statlese Fruity Wine as being fairly enjoyable for the pair of us and costing (if I recall) around $12. We tried cheaper but found ithat our taste buds rejected it to begin with
