Default Changing Name advice

Hi all, I was wondering if anybody had any advice or any experiences of changing their name in Australia.
We are eligable for citizenship in Sept and my wife wants to change her surname to the same as mine ( its a long story)
Anyone any idea of where to start, which to change first etc
Thanks again

Why would she want to change her name to jam ?
Apologies for being facetious couldn't help myself
I hope someone infinitely wiser than me can answer your question.
Good luck with your citizenship

Hi Sam,

whereabouts in Oz do you live? The procedure varies a bit from state to state.

To find out how to do it:

Go to www.google.com.au
Enter: "name change"+queensland
(If you don't live in Queensland, put the name of your state.)

Alternatively, you can buy a "kit" for your state that explains it all step by step:
http://www.newlywed.com.au/category13_1.htm
(Scroll down to "legal name change kit".)

Can change it by Deed poll, mostly at the Birth Death marriages office, but as someone else said depends on which state you are in.
