Default Chances of making it

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone with similar work experience, age and family has successfully applied and got a permanent VISA.

I am 34 yrs old with 9 years experience in IT as a senior programmer.

I have a wife and 2 kids, aged 11 an 4.

If I sell up here I reckon I would have around 30-40k in savings to make a fresh start in OZ.

Is there anyone else out there like me? Any advice on how I would get on with a Senior developers wage in Melbourne?

Kind Regards
Jim

Age: 25 Points (With 35 you only get 20 points)
Englisch Skill: 20 Points
Skill: 60 Points
Specific Work Experience: 10 Points
Makes 115 Points.

U need 120.

So maybe either 5 points for spouse skills or capital investment.

Not sure, but I think u need to have a degree (IT). Your skill assessing body is the ACS (Australian Computer Society).

Check out this doc for more info:

For more info pm me.

My wife is also looking into getting a qualification as a Nursery teacher, and we also have relatives in oz, so hoepfully all is not lost.

For ACS you do *not* need to have an IT degree, although it makes things easier.

People in IT with relatives to sponsor them can sometimes use a 50 point Vetassess nominated occupation if they have a degree (any subject) equivalent to an Australian bachelors.
