Caution on police check - will it matter?
Guys,
I've just got my police check through and it shows a caution for drunken disorderly 4 and a half years ago. I'd tell you the full story but nobody ever did it right? However in this case its true!!!
I've never been in trouble before or since please somebody tell me that this won't stop me getting my visa!!??!!??
Its was only a caution and i wasn't charged with anything.
regards guys

You'll be fine with the caution but people should see this as a "heads up"
You see, you have to fill the visa application form in first, including the bit about criminal record.
If you fail to declare a conviction at this point which shows up on the police check a few months later when it is requested by DIMIA, you're in the shit.
If people are worried about this, they ought to get a police check done first, just to see what comes up, so they know what to fill in on the visa application.
You'll have to get another one done later though, when requested by DIMIA, but they'll be no surprises.
Unless of course you are front loading your application because you have a MODL occupation.

Doesn't Immigration Australia give you extra points for that then? seems like they should.

My missus slapped a girl in the face when she was 17, it showed up on her police check, some 20 years later !! fortunately we had been honest and quoted it in the Mains !

Guys,
Thanx for the replies, I've closely scanned the copy i kept of my main application form and it only asks you to declare any convictions so there was no need for me to declare it. There wasn't a section on the form that even mentions cautions. I will send a letter with the police check to soften the blow,
thanx again!!
