Unhappy Cattery at Sydney

Excuse me if this has already been posted - did look but couldnt find anything on it.
One of the catteries at Sydney has been closed down and they are not taking any cats until 18th September Diesel was due to fly out on August 1st but I really dont think I can leave him in the cattery here for 6 weeks and then for him to go in a cattery over there for 4 weeks...I think I am going to have to find my baby a new home

I'll give Golden Arrow a call - but I think he mentioned that you normally have to book a couple of months ahead as they are quite small - I was so flustered when he rang I didn't really take it all in. Just said I would call him back tomorrow. I think its a big problem with one of the cattery's - apparently they have got to rebuild, so be warned anyone shipping their cats in the next few months.

There are three quarantine stations in Oz so you still have options, it will maybe mean you employing someone to ship Diesel from there to you.
I have arranged for holly to be shipped from melbourne to our rental in adelaide. there is no need to leave him behind Golden Arrow are shipping my cat and they will explore all options if you ask!

Keep the faith

Just wanted to reassure you about putting cats into a cattery for six weeks. My three have been in a cattery for six weeks before with no ill-effects - and they annually go on for four weeks as we prefer to take our holiday in one chunk. You'd be surprised how quickly they settle in - we probably suffer more than they do!

Rgds,

Nicky

Hi,
I'm not too sure about the transfer procedure of animals to Oz from UK, but I presume from your post, that your cat will not need to be quarantined on arrival? If that's the case, have you tried, for example, the following animal boarding home/cattery here in Sydney's south: Hanrob Pet Care Centre (http://www.hanrob.com.au/locate/index.html).

Cheers, Sonja

P.S.: Will try and get more information of my boss regarding other reliable catteries, but as it is now evening here, it'll have to wait until tomorrow evening before I can post again.

Thanks for the reply but Diesel will need quarantine and its the quarantine station that has had one of its cattery buildings condemed... Have spoken to the shippers regarding Melbourne and Perth and the waiting for them is around 8 weeks and they cant be booked until I have the import certs.
I am stuck between a rock and a hard place at the mo . I think I will have to find someone to look after him till he can be shipped or find him a nice home here for good.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions anyway.

The import certs come back very quickly, how long did the shipper say they will take?
