I'm destined to be a Cat B (dodgy thyroid and asthma). In most cases, all it means is that your case has to be referred to one of the commonwealth medical officers for them to approve it. If they think there is no reason for you not to live an active, working life and that you're not likely to cost a fortune to treat, you should be approved. So the delay should only be as long as it takes to send the docos to the doc () and get it approved.
Sometimes they'll request further tests before approving, which will cause a delay of some weeks.
And in some cases, you could be asked to sign a health undertaking which basically means that you only have 6 months to validate, instead of the usual 12.
Do a search on Cat B - you'll find loads of stuff from me and others!

Thanks guys
It is amazing what the medicals do to you. One minute I am panicking about it and the next I am relaxed and fine.
With them being this week am feeling a tad stressed.
I just would hate to have delays etc as we have our hearts set on going in October.

I am Cat B on the meds.
We are doing an onshore application. I had to speak to the manager of ASPC yesterday regarding a separate issue regarding leaving the country. I had my meds done a while ago but the med officer requested more tests because of my diabetes. All we are waiting for now is the grant (or not) of the visa.
The manager told me that they have to go from Adelaide to Sydney to be finalised after reaching them, so i guess this is why it can take a while to be sorted. She did say however, that once htey have got them, it normally gets sorted within 4- 6 weeks.
She is trying to speed it up a bit for us because of family issues at the moment.
