More Brisbane - Gold Coast Questions
Hi,
How reasonable is this:
My line of work is such that the most likely job opportunities are in Brisbane CBD. However we're thinking of living on the Gold Coast.
If I live in Redlands Shire, Victoria Point, Cleveland etc, how reasonable is it to commute to the God Coast for a while should I find a job there, rather than in Brissy CBD.
Thanks,
Paul.

I'd say it's more than possible, so long as you are prepared to drive and it would be about a 1 hour drive to GC maybe less.
Cannot imagine you could go by bus or train unless you drove to Beenleigh and then caught a train but train runs about 12kms inland from GC and then you'd have to catch a bus to GC.

The Train journey would involve a 55 minute trip from Cleveland Station to South Brisbane, then change for the Robina line which would be "travel time from Robina to Central (Brisbane City) and vice-versa is approximately 70 minutes"
Driving time from Victoria Point is about 50/60 minutes in weekend traffic, into Surfers Paradise centre.
40/45 minutes to Wet'n'Wild

We've thought about the campervan idea, but knowing my two kids (three yrs old), I don't think they'd take to it much.

You would need to drive to the Gold Coast. The train will almost definitely not stop anywhere near to where you work, unless you are a linesman or something.
Very possible to commute but will take about an hour each way.
What is your trade may I ask?

I'm Accountant, but not practice, so although my best chance of employment is in a CBD, I still wanna be near the beach (typical Brit expat, eh?.

Personally I'd look at living at the north end of the gold coast and commuting into Brisbane CBD if required. Its just as long a journey as commuting from the redlands to the gold coast. have a look at property around Arundel. There have been a few posts from other families who have located themselves in that suburb and seem to be happy.
