Default Cash Payment for shipping - risks??

We may get a reduced rate if we pay in full by cash for our shipping (shared container 650 cubic foot). Can anyone think of any risks involved should we take this option?

We are doing the same as we were offered a good discount. I cannot see any problems with paying by cash, as long as you get a receipt of course.
Don't take my word for it though, i have been know to be a bit dippy!

If the removal company goes bust while your goods are en route, you will have to pay again (container shipping company, customs agent, customs and Aqis fees, removal company in Oz).

If you pay by credit card, then this will not happen. The credit card company will reimburse you.

Obviously this nightmare scenario doesn't happen a lot, but it *has* happened to someone in the forum here!

yeah have put in a fair bit of time on this topic, worth it I think. Thought we'd be going with DB but in the final hour got a decent quote from European Van lines and seriously considering it. They are coming back tomorrow with rate for cash price, their previous rate already undercut the opposition so its looking good and no-one has yet had a bad word to say about them.

is there the same cover for debit card payments? as c/card incurs a 4 % surcharge.

No, sadly there isn't. Payments with bank notes, debit cards, and cheques do not give you any protection if the removals firm goes bust.

Funny that. I had decided on DB too. I also had an excellent quote from EVL as well today around 6pm. The lowest yet. Have done a search and have not found any negative comments.
Do you think they read these threads?
