Letters and faxes work. They hate being contacted directly and e-mail usage seems to be patchy. Whenever I have called the officer has been grouchy. I have also faxed and written to DIMIA and received immediate positive responses from my case officer. Something else to bare in mind in case officers seem to migrate around the deoartment and it is not unusual for your case officer to change.

I have to agree.
Every email was replied to promptly and courteously and they were very helpful.
I don't understand why there is such variation in responses.
I suspect it is a mistake to contact them too early into your application.

I was always told that my case officer was unavailiable, it was suprising how quickly she appeared when i asked to speak to her manager regarding the amount of time off she seemed to have After that, no worries, she spoke to me on several occasions and was really helpful. I guess they just don't want to be bothered with questions that anyone can answer. However i really needed to clarify some thing very specific and as i say she was very nice.

There is an element in the public sector that feels threatened by new technology. It does seem to depend on the officer. You are certainly correct about contacting the DIMIA too early.

Hi
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have left quite a few messages for them to call and the email has not had a reply.
I only want to ask them what more information they require of me
as you may have seen from my previous thread I have sent
everything required on all the lists but they want more info as to us living together. I think I might try the fax option today ..then
maybe the letter option ..then banging my head against a brick wall option!!!!!!!

thanx everyone

Try and find all the lists of evidence on this site and work out if you can provide any of it. If there are more people that can provide stat decs get them to do so. Good luck with getting the info off the officer.

Hi Costy,

Why don't you post a thread saying exactly what info you sent, then people might be able to come up with some more specific ideas. Couldn't hurt and might be useful.
