Default Case officer out of office !

Hi All
Wondered if anyone else had come across what we have been going through.
We have been applying for our 136 non MODL visa since July 2005.
Our main application arrived at the APSC at the end of March 2006 and we patiently waited for any news from our case officer. Most of our time has been spent waiting, with breaks of two or three weeks of manic form filling and document certifying !!
We decided to front load our medicals and booked them for the end of October. We emailed our agent to tell him and he responded by telling us that we must cancel them and not do anything until requested.
We waited, and waited, read forums and timelines, waited and then finally after still hearing nothing decided to email our case officer. This was early January 2007. Two days later he emailed us the ASPC request for Medicals. Fantastic, at last, we thought, and booked them straight away. Upon reading the letter more closely we noticed that it was dated 1st Septemer 2006 with a request for return of documents no later than 1st December 2006
This seemed very strange, so we emailed our agent and asked him why, he just told us that we had an extra 70 days and he had forwarded the letter to us as soon as he had received it. So we then decided to email our case officer direct and to our utter despair got an 'Out of Office' auto response stating she was on leave from 8th December 2006 until 31st March 2007
Meds now sent, nothing left to do but wait.
We just want to know if anyone else has had these problems and what the outcome was.
We are hoping of course that our case officer has passed on our file to someone else and not locked it in her drawer for safe keeping

Wanted to thank everyone who uses this forums as it has kept us sane, or almost through the agonising months of waiting.

Fingers crossed, we seem to be nearly at the light

Phone ASPC and ask what's happening. I can't bear the thought of you or anyone else having to wait that long to hear something. SURELY someone else would pick up your case file.
Phone ASPC Monday night UK time!!

Gosh, yeah - why should you have to wait because your case officer has had an extended break?
I agree with onepearlyb - get them phoned!!

We had the exact same situation (we were 138 December-05). E-mailed the CO to let them know our AOS was completed, got an out-of-office through to end of March.

We were just beginning to panic and trying to decide what to do, when the next day we received our Visa Grant letter!

So the assumption is that the files are handled sensibly in the absence of the CO.

Best of luck with the remainder of your app.

Don't panic!!
If your case officer is away for that long, another one will have been allocated to the case. Its common practice for Govt Officers to take long service leave for several months, or to go off and act in another position for several months. Someone else will be picking up the emails and someone else will be dealing with your visas.

We have the same problem (another thread 'contact case officer').
We have had nothing emailed back, do not even know email address of CO, never been given to us.
We missed our med date window, emailed them reason why, heard nothing. Our meds are now booked for next week.
Its like emailing the Twighlight Zone.
But its good to here people say that they are working in the background.

Hope yours works out fine.

Good Luck

Cheryl

Thanks for all the great feedback and positive replies.
We feel much more positive now that we know our files have been passed to another Case Officer.
Ps... Good luck Cheryl, we have our fingers crossed for you also.

It does sound like your agent's not very good, strange how he suddenly emailed the request for meds after you started to chase it.
Hope the waiting will be over for you soon, Good luck, Neil.
