Default Car Insurance In Australia - Any Recommendations?

Dont know if this is in the right forum?

Can anyone recommend an insurance company to insure our vehicle. We used Esure in the UK, but dont really know any popular ones over here.

Do we need to provide any details as to our UK no claims bonus. We bought a copy of our old policy which states 70% no claims - would any insurance company want to see this?
Partner is 45, been driving since 17 and never claimed.

I would like to apply on line if possible, so any links would be great.

thanks
Jill

I'd second the AAMI recommendation - there was also a recent thread on this subject a few weeks ago - worth your while to check, I think. AAMI fared well if I remember.

As for the no-claim proof, everyone advises you bring some lierature from your old insurer but they appear to accept your word in my experience, "age" is more the determinant, I think. Of course, if you make a claim they more than likely will want proof of your no-claims rating, so don't throw it away!

I had NRMA insurance for several years - no probs at all, they were quick to pay when I need it. Also commercial union - now part of CGU/Norwich Union.
