Got a Melbourne rental!
For the unitiated, this thread title may make me come across as an easily excitable chap.
The initiated will understand why I'm happy & had to post about it!
(Our first application as well )

We are actually in Melbourne at the moment, it took us 3 weeks & numerous viewings to actually see a place that motivated us to make an application: and then we were lucky, most people average about 4 or 5 unsuccessful applications before securing a place.
Is it Melbourne that you are coming to Pearly, or somewhere else?

And yes Pete, it IS a dear pub! Nice though. Curry sounds good, but will probably have to wait till I have a weeks work under my belt. We are sailing very close to the wind just now in financial terms, especially since we are having to furnish the place just now as well.

We're about ten minutes' dawdle from Bridie's, so give us a shout when you're ready for a beer or two. You could always come over and sit on outr $10 Ikea stools if you fancy a change!

Good to hear from you.Yes, it's Melbourne we're heading back to.
The visa application is going in asap so we've a fair wait ahead of us I think, though I'm frontloading the medicals and police checks and I'm on the MODL list.
I used to live in Clifton Hill. We're going to look at anything between Cheltenham up to St Kilda on the beach side though will also consider the likes of Caulfield,Cantebury,Fairfield,Carnegie,Oakleigh etc, etc. ( basically anything up to about 25km from CBD.)
Glad you've found a nest to feather anyway.
Let me know how you get on,eh?

I certainly got a big shock when we started looking. You find somewhere perfect and lose out, and you don't really know why. The feedback you get is "we had lots of good applications and yours was one of them". It's just frustrating!
