We're doing it all again - 18 years apart!! And it's getting very close now and I'm starting to wobble but there's no turning back at this point! Flying out on 1 August! We are different people now - back then we were just 21 and 23, just married and left a life of going out every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to suddenly setting up home 12,000 miles away with no friends. Now married 18.5 years with 2 kids - 13 and 8 - who are looking forward to it!! And I've got my fingers crossed that this time it's for keeps!!!

Thanks. This is our 7th week. Still looking for jobs, getting use to the cold as heating is a bit lax in this house and wondering if this was the right decision. But it is early days and we do hope that something will come along.

Good luck Tracy.
All of us migrants can at least say that we followed our hearts and lived a little, be it only for a short time. We are all much better people for at least attempting to have a good life so far away from our homes, families and friends, not to mention familiarity. There are many who wouldn't.
Good luck to all of us.

Yup, we left the house up for sale as hubbie had a job to go to in Cairns. It had been on the market since April, we decided to leave in July as hubbie had a job to go to.
In the autumn we had a offer and accepted. We go messed around in the end the sale fell through just before xmas. We headed back to the UK in the March and have been back just over 2 years now.
Coping with mortgage over in the uk and having rent and living costs in Oz became too much in the end so we decided to head back and get our act together, to re-evaluate things.
We decided to try again spring this year but made the decision to sell the house first this time round. That way the pressure financially is off. It is frustrating though! :curse:
We have thought about renting it out but after speaking with agents, there doesn't seem to be much demand for 4 bed here and the market is flat.
Sooo, lets just see what happens, we will get there ... eventually

Hey guys, feel a bit more positive today, just had the wobbles that's all!
We are now heading to the gold coast instead of cairns but that could change
At least we know what to expect this time round. Trouble is you can't be sure can you? I am really excited about going though.
We arn't going until we have sold the house this time round so that's a bonus and it means we won't have the same added pressure as last time.

I think we will head back to gold coast - OH is an air con engineer so hoping there will be plenty of job opportunities - just a shame we dont have enough behind us to start up a business - seems a lot of people say that's the only real way to go in Oz! but at least we are already Oz citizens

Hi Scrawni 2
We are going back for more! Went to sydney, lasted 10 months, got homesick, rest of family loved it, went back to UK. This time going to SE Brisbane, hubby already there, bought a house, taken dogs over, so hopefully settle better, fingers crossed anyway. Feel stronger this time, only time will tell, but can't afford all this ping ponging - fly out 24th August, still lots to do before then, but hoping it is going to work this time.
All the best Scrawni 2, I know how you feel. x

Hi, good luck im sure everything this time will be great.........
We are contemplating pingponging again..........we moved 3 years ago under state nominated to Tasmania only lasted 5 months had to come back, now really want to move back but no way does my husband want to do Tasmania again he hated the place, living and working there but for a holiday beautiful........he really wants to move to Western Australia or Melbourne way.......we are waiting on confirmation from Immigration in London regarding this as the stni rules are that you were to remain in Tasmania for 2 years befor emoving interstate...........but we have not moved interstate just intercountry so really we have kept our bargain, have we???? I hope so because I really do not want to stay in the UK it has got really bad in the last 2 years for us.........
Fingers crossed for us and the very best of luck for your new life abroad.

Sod it, us too - probably Autumn 2008. While I think the UK is more interesting that Australia, it is just too stressful to enjoy what there is to see.

Gawd, I never realised just how many of us are willing to try again, we are either brave or stupid
It does make me feel alot better about things.
We just want it to be right this time don't we? I was alot more stressed last time round but knowing what lies ahead now helps alot.
How did your familes take you decision to try again? All I go was, 'oh no, not again'
What made you change your minds and make the decision to head back to oz?
