hi we are now in the northern perth currambine area and have 6 days till we are homeless has anyone got any ideas of what we can do,we have put several apps into houses but they are so slow over here .estate agents dont work weekends either.there are six of us and it looks like we will be going home arggggggggghhhhhhh
we alll love perth but cant find a long term rental any ideas appreciated

We had the same problem with the real estate agents down here too. Luckily the house we got was up with a small agency and we got it in three days. I can't believe how slow the other guys were, they offered us the tenancy on the other house we applies for two weeks after we moved in here. They are now still advertising the house and the price has been dropped $40 a week


Anyway, we looked into short term rentals as well just in case. Is there a motel or anything nearby that you could try in the short term. Or maybe have a look at this website
As a last resort have you trid a caravan park, try www.big4.com.au I know these aren't ideal but better than nothing for now.

I hope you are as lucky as we were and find something just in the nick of time.

Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. Have you been given any idea of why your applications keep being declined? Are you in a position to offer a few months rent upfront?? I know that has helped others in the same situation.

You must be so worried. I'm dreading this happening to us :scared: Have a look on realestate.com.au. There is a house in Joondalup that has had its tenants break the lease and they want perspective tenants to phone the owners direct. This might me a bit quicker for you then having to deal with the estate agents. Good luck.

Odd they don't work weekends, even on Saturday, as that is usually the busiest day. The long term rental situation in most states now is rather poor due to the high cost of house prices and the recent rise in interest rates. In Qld it is very difficult to find a rental.

BTW the way,
a)how long was the lease for;
b) how many new rental applications did you put in for; and
c) how long have you been waiting for a reply from the earliest to the latest?

Hi there

Are you doing it all 'correct'? We had a steep learning curve when we started looking for rental properties.
Have you got all the references in place, photo copied and names they can call?
i.d. photo copied?
Are you putting cash in with your rental application? You need to show you are committed to the property. The agent we went through insisted it was cash and definitely not a cheque!
Are you acting quick enough? We have found some properties don't even make it to the internet, they go that quick.
Dress smart (not suggesting you might not be) and go and introduce yourselves to all the agents and they will see you are a good choice for their properties..... it's what we did and it worked for us.

I used one from a friend, admittedly he used to own a business and now runs a pub but it was fine.

Maybe you could get one from a boss, not a work reference, but a personal one.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all of the replies.
We have been refused four houses now and we are currently due to move out of this holiday rental on 6th oct.
We have asked the estate agents what the reason was?They just say that it is up to the owner,and they they themselves can't see aproblem with the applications jst putting it down to luck.
When you have four children its not funny moving from one holiday let to the other ,we are now in our fourth house.
We cannot start the girls at school until we get a rental agreement,they have been off school since july!

Thanks to kimi,who is trying her very best to find us somewhere,i do appreciate it.
To Jane we have been to caloundra for 2 weeks,But Martin couldnt find a job.He Has been offered two jobs here.

We are waiting to hear on 3 more houses next week.

If we have no luck nor we may well try sor,fancied Mandarah.
