HSBC account, how long?
Hi All, just wondering if anyone know roughly how long it takes to process an application for an Aussie HSBC account from here in the UK?
We sent all our forms and docs off to HSBC International in London last week and want to get it set up asap so we can get transferring some money before the exchange rate drops again! :scared:

The guy at the HSBC who helped us with the forms (who looked barely old enough to wear long trousers) had no experience of opening international bank accounts - what joy! He had to phone the International banking number several times while we were there to ask what to do.....so we didn't bother asking him complex questions like 'How long?'

you may want to contact a currency exchange company like moneycorp or hifx. You will be able to order your currency there and then and transfer GBP to pay for it. They will then transfer your $$$ into your nominated account once you have one set up.
Also with these guys you can forward buy your currency by putting a deposit down so say for example the exchange rate is great but you dont have the funds form the sale of your house yet. Well you can buy at todays rate and pay once you have the cash. If you call and speak to someone they will explain it all.
