Hello
am just thinking of getting the tent to clean it before packing and wondered what the majority do in Oz. Do you use 'standard' family tent or do most use a 'trailer tent'. The only real benefit that i can see is that with a trailer tent you are off the ground. Is there a problem on the camp sites with lots of creepy things?!

We've got a couple of Outwell tents. Having a sewn-in ground sheet and zip sided mozzie nets is what you want.
Having said that DD went camping recently with school and slept out under open sided tarps.....

The tents here seem quite cheap, we're going to get one when we've got some spare cash. They're more geared for the heat too, loads more vents etc
Steve'O goes camping a fair bit I think, so does TheWoodz if you wanted to ask them anything sure you can pm them

Can anyone tell me if i can take my camping stove to qld, its still brand new with two rings and a grill but im not sure if the gas connection pipe will be the same over there. Also not sure whether to take tent or not its a big two bedroomed one but not 100% sure if I could get it cleaned to customs standards. any advice would be appreciated

thanks rebnatoli, will give the tent a good clean after last camping trip to the lake district before the big move and can easily sell the cooker then too.

Sounds similar to mine, if it also has a rear exit and both bedrooms have windows. its still in pretty good condition apart from a bit of mud on the bottom which i may be able to clean off ok. i only paid £60 at the end of the camping season a few years ago and its fantastic, loads of space fo the 4 of us. We're off to Cairns in a few months and im not sure what its like there for camping yet.

I hated camping in the UK, (as I'm a wimp!) was 'persuaded' to go here and I love it. We got very cheap tent here, as described above. Best investment so far - Tarp!, goes above tent, helps keep heat out in summer, and rain off. Also creates additional shade to sit under too.

Aussies don't camp......they pack up their entire lives from home and take it with 'em! I couldn't believe it the first time we went camping on Straddie.....me and OH with a $20 2 man tent from Big W (which funnily enough collpased in the middle of night during a thunderstorm, a bit unsettling after a slab of VB and a bottle of Vodka!).....everyone else had brought what seemed like the equivalent of a 6 man tent per person, a bar fridge, the telly, playstation, the kitchen sink.....even air conditioning units!
